Once a weary traveler was lost in a desert. After wandering for days, he reached a deserted village. There was not a soul at sight. As he loitered in disappointment, he reached a house in absolute ruins. To his delight there was a water pump beside the house. He jumped in joy as he ran to pump. He pumped it like a mad person, but it gave nothing but a loud clanging sound which resonated the whole region. He slumped down in a moment liked a deflated balloon. But he saw a closed jar with a note written on the weathered walls.
“Use the water for priming the pump. And fill it again after you quench your thirst.”
The question that arose from his mind was – What if I prime the pump and still water doesn’t come out of it?
What would you do in such a situation? Would you quench your thirst with the water and walk away? Or would you risk losing only source of life and prime the pump?
Think about the person who had filled the jar. Did he gain anything by filling the jar? He tried to create a cycle. A cycle of goodness. World is a complex web. What you get is a result of giving. You get only when you give. That’s the cycle of life.
