The world is a reflection of your inner self

Have you ever felt that you had a bad day? What you experience is a reflection of your inner self. The following story shall help you realize the simple truth of life.
Once when Raghav, an elderly wise man was having his evening walk, he saw his neighbor kid sitting on his porch with sadness written all over his face. Having known the kid, he had a fair idea what could have gone wrong. He walked to him and smiled at him.
“Hello kid, you don’t look okay. Is there anything I can do to help?”
The kid didn’t say anything but gave a wince.
“Ok kid, I guess we take a walk. Come along.”
As he took him to walk along with him, he slowly set him on talking terms.
“Now tell me, what’s your problem?”
The kid started speaking about his problems.
“I hate everything around me. Everybody at school tries to pull a fight with me. Nobody likes me. Teachers always punishes me among all the kids most. The neighborhood kids also like to pull a quarrel with me. Nobody likes to be my friend. I feel like the whole world is against me.”
The wise old man heard his story patiently.
“I have a solution to your problems. Follow me.”
He took the kid to a museum nearby. The kid knew where he was led, but did not why. It was a hall of mirrors.
“See kid. You get into the hall, look around and come back after a minute.”
The kid did as he was told and when he came back the old man spoke.
“Did you see gloomy faces around?”
“I did.” replied the kid.
“That’s the world around you kid. It shows you what you are. If you bear a gloomy face, it shows you gloomy face. If you show happy face, it shows you happy face.”
The kid listened intently as the old man continued.
“Now tell me, did you ever greet your neighbors, classmates or teachers?”
“No.” came the answer.
“Did you ever share your snack with your classmates?”
“No.”
“Did you ever help anybody in need?”
“No.”
After all the negative answers, the boy gradually gained some sense of it.
“See, there lies your problem kid. The problem is not with your friends, teachers, or the world as you believe. The problem lies within.”
The kid looked at him with curiosity.
“Can you please give me the solution sir.” the kid asked with respect.
“The solution is simple kid. Next time you meet your classmates or teachers, greet them. Smile at anybody whom you encounter. Share your snack with your classmates. Help people in need. You will then see the whole world around you change.”
The kid did as was told and he did witness a whole new world. He made many friends. The teachers liked him. He smiled a lot. He is a happy kid now.
Yes, the world around you is a reflection of your inner self. The more you smile at the world, the more it smiles back. The world only gives back what you give.
I wish you all more smiles and happiness.
