Don't lose your sleep over your assumptions

We are always hasty in making judgement about things by the look of it. How it looks is not really what it is. Let’s see what the below story has to offer.

There was a bus conductor who had a tendency to judge before analyzing. Once when he was on a regular duty, he didn’t know that he was going to have an experience that may deprive him of his sleep for the coming days.
The bus started and he started rendering the tickets. He didn’t face any problems for some time which gave him the hope that it was going to be a pleasant day. Passengers got on and off without a fuss. At a particular stop, a giant of a man boarded the bus. Over six feet in height and built like a wrestler, he barged into the bus with a careless swag. The conductor hesitantly walked unto him and asked him to get a ticket. He gave a sharp stare and said, “I bhai don’t need to pay.” and sat down at the back.
The poor conductor stood like a dwarf in front of the big man.
He didn’t have the guts to argue with the ominous looking man, but he wished he could confront him.
Next day was no different. The big man came in and spoke the same words ‘I don’t need to pay.’ in his baritone voice and sat back in his seat. This continued for many days and the constant refusal broke the threshold of the conductor’s tolerance.
Finally he decided to stand up against him. He knew that he couldn’t stand up against him with his weak physique. Hence, he signed up for body building courses and martial arts classes. He hit the gym with vengeance and excelled in his martial arts.
In a couple of months he gained in confidence and grew bold enough to encounter the unruly defaulter. He made up his mind that the next day would be the end of the big man’s insolence.
The next day, when the big man boarded the bus, the conductor stood in his path and asked in a rather loud voice ‘TICKET’. The big man once again repeated his usual line, “I don’t need to pay.” That’s all he was waiting for. The conductor immediately shot back, “AND WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THAT YOU CAN TRAVEL WITHOUT A TICKET?”
With a rather flustered look on his face, the big man replied in a low voice, “I have a bus pass.”
The conductor walked away embarrassed. He was embarrassed due to various reasons. He was embarrassed because he shouted at a person due to his misconception. He was embarrassed because he didn’t have the wisdom to clarify before concluding. He was even more embarrassed because he lost his precious sleep over a non-issue.

Be sure of what is a problem in the first place before working hard to solve one.

Appearance can be deceptive. Never get fooled by what you see. You won’t lose much by seeing things in positive light, but you may lose a lot by a negative light.
