For the first and the last time in the history of cricket there was a crazy thing happened at the Man of the Match award. The award was handed over, not to a batsman, not to a bowler, not to a wicketkeeper, but the pitch curator of the Wanderers, Chris Scott. It was the first day of a test between South Africa and New Zealand in the year 2000 and the rains played a spoil sport. Everyone believed that it was impossible to have a game following incessant rains. But Chris Scott conjured a miracle with not much of today’s advanced tools and techniques. Kudos to him, he deserved the award.
