Once upon a time, there was a wise old owl named Hootie. He lived in a tall oak tree in the middle of a forest. Hootie was loved by all the animals in the forest because he was always willing to help them out.
One day, a baby rabbit was lost in the forest. He didn’t know how to get back to his burrow. He started to cry, and the other animals didn’t know what to do.
Hootie heard the baby rabbit crying, and he flew down to see what was wrong. He listened to the baby rabbit’s story, and then he said, “Don’t worry, little rabbit. I’ll help you find your way home.”
Hootie picked up the baby rabbit in his talons and flew him over the forest. He looked down and saw the baby rabbit’s burrow below. He landed gently in the grass and put the baby rabbit down.
“Thank you, Hootie,” said the baby rabbit. “I couldn’t have found my way home without you.”
“You’re welcome,” said Hootie. “That’s what friends are for.”
Another day, a group of animals were arguing about who was the strongest animal in the forest. The bear said it was him, the lion said it was him, and the elephant said it was him.
Hootie heard the animals arguing, and he flew down to see what was wrong. He listened to the animals’ arguments, and then he said, “You are all strong in your own way. There is no need to argue.”
“But who is the strongest?” asked the bear.
“The strongest animal in the forest is the one who is kindest and most helpful to others,” said Hootie.
The animals thought about what Hootie had said, and they realized that he was right. They apologized to each other for arguing, and they promised to be kinder and more helpful to others from that day on.
Hootie was a wise and kind owl. He was always willing to help others, and he taught the animals in the forest many important lessons about life.
